Top 7 reasons members don’t show up and how to change it.
  • You booked the show on a holiday weekend or during a major event.
    • Always look at the school, social, and community calendar before booking events.  And if it’s off season – adjust your expectations… if they’re not in town they won’t come!
  • Members didn’t know about the event
    • Email blasts are not enough. You need posters, emails, texts, calendars, and constant reminders.  There’s a fine line between not enough and too much… learn to walk that line!
  • Members didn’t sign up so we cancelled
    • Members often sign up at the last minute.  Give them an RSVP date and offer a discount if they sign up early.  Don’t cancel because no one signed up in advance!
  • They didn’t think it was going to be any good.
    • Stop booking mediocre acts and “good enough” events.  Your members will come… but it will take time to earn their trust.  Book top rated attractions, acts, and events at the start to let your members know what they’re missing!
  • It cost too much
    • Every club has a different cost for member events… but knowing your members price point is a great start.  Make sure you have events at all prices – but it’s important to know that sometimes charging a bit more will get a larger crowd.
  • It was too late for our members so they didn’t come
    • Start the event earlier. That was an easy fix!  For clubs and communities with an older population, consider afternoon performances!
  • We had members cancel at the last minute because they decided to go to a party.
    • Have a cancelation cut off a week before the event.  They can cancel, but they still need to pay!
